Birdland Vineyards captures the Wine Country dream. Unwind and enjoy the indoor-outdoor Sonoma Valley lifestyle at this stunning, tranquil, single story vineyard home in Glen Ellen. At the end of a private lane, wooden and copper gates open to reveal Merlot and Godello vines, a pond with graceful willow, fruit and olives trees, lawns and flower gardens. An approximately 2,800 sq. ft. 3-bedroom, 3 bath main house with approx. 840 sq. ft. guest cottage sit on approx. 10.5 acres. Porches on the west and east sides of the house provide entertaining space with either vineyard views or poolside.
The main house, nestled in its own little valley, is a peaceful, secret paradise, hidden away, yet just minutes from downtown Glen Ellen, Sonoma, and Santa Rosa.
The living area has a dramatic arched cathedral ceiling, wood-burning fireplace, dining area, long window seat and two sets of French doors. This continues into a Chef’s kitchen with custom wood cabinetry and drawers, dining and prep-island topped with French oak, “leather” granite work-surfaces, a highly desirable AGA cooker, and upscale appliances, with another window seat nook and fireplace (gas). The master suite offers views of the vineyard along with a 3rd fireplace, generous walk-in closet and access to the outdoors.
The one-bedroom guest cottage is light and airy, with the feel of a treehouse. It opens onto an ironwood deck amidst the trees, where you can hear the sound of Sonoma Creek from below. A wine cellar is built below the guest cottage.
One acre of the vineyard grows the northern Spain grape variety, Godello. Birdland Vineyards is the only vineyard growing this varietal in the US. These grapes are sold to Cave Dog of Napa. The remaining vines are Merlot, which is under contract to St Francis Winery, Kenwood. A vineyard management company takes care of the vineyard, so the owner can do as much or as little as they wish. This east-facing vineyard is part of the Sonoma Valley AVA.
A rare opportunity to own an enchanting vineyard retreat which epitomizes Wine Country living.
